I went to the Rockies game last night. (Which was a blast, by the way.) Anyway, the girl that sang the national anthem really made me mad. She made it all pop-sounding and was sliding notes all over the place. That may be her style of singing, but I'm starting to find renditions like that of the Star Spangled Banner to be highly offensive. Sing it straight, or don't sing it. I've sung it at 3 UNC football games, and I sang it straight each and every time. It's not hard, people. And it shows a lot more respect than if you sound like a freakin' Whitney Houston wannabe.
Show a little respect and reverence, people. Sheesh!
