If you ever want to totally confuse yourself...

Original Post Date: January 6, 2007

...try and figure out the British Royal Line of Succession. We somehow got on the subject of that today. And being a total obsessive geek about details, I looked online for a list. (I was right, by the way. Brothers go before sisters in line of succession, regardless of birth order.) Anyway, I understand all the way through Queen Elizabeth II's family, and through Princess Margaret's family, but then it got into a whole bunch of other people that I'd never heard of (kudos to them for staying out of the tabloids!). No offense to my friends on the other side of the pond, but what in the world did all those people do to deserve those titles? Duke of WHAT?! And I find it very interesting that if someone either becomes a Roman Catholic or marries one, they automatically lose their right to the crown. What if they became a Mormon? Or a Muslim? *snerk* That'd be interesting.

Here in the good ol' US of A, we have our own royalty. We revere people like the drunken Kennedys and Paris Hilton. Wait. Ummmm.....Can I move to England?
